The LVRS has maintained a water rescue team for over 60 years. This was born from a number of hurricanes having flooded parts of Laurel and to support rescue needs for the Laurel Rocky Gorge Reservoir and the rest of Prince George's County. A unique mission of the team is supporting the Laurel Fireworks. The team helps move the fireworks barges onto the lake and then moves the barges to the center of the lake.
