Technical Rescue (Water Rescue Team)
Assists with Body Recovery Operation

On Sunday, May 15, 2011, LVRS' Water Rescue Team was alerted, along with other units from the Department's Technical Rescue Services Battalion, for a non-emergency response within the Laurel area, to assist the county police with a recovery of a confirmed deceased body found floating in a small storm water retention pond. Units from LVRS and Station 806, along with support from Berwyn Heights station 814, determined that the simple recovery could be made by personnel walking out from shore to access the victim. Using appropriate exposure protection and other safety equipment, the personnel worked in conjunction with the Medical Examiner's Office to recover the body and document the findings. Units were on-scene for just over 1 hour. Chief 849 had the command, assisted by Chief 831A with safety and Chief 849A with the operations sector.

Main Street Festival

Saturday May 7, 2011 brought prefect weather for the 31st Annual Laurel Main Street Festival. LVRS had a great turn out in participation and a good time was had by all.

Thank you to all those that helped to prepare and participated in the Main Street Festival. We had a great member turn out and looked very good on the street.
Over the last couple of years, we have been using the event for fund raising / pass the boot.

A special thanks to: "Put your loot, in the boot" O'Donnell. Our all time record was clearly because of his leadership! Thanks Chuck!
