I-95 Extrication

North bound exit ramp to I-95 from Westbound Route 198. On the late afternoon of July 31, 2011 Rescue Engine 49 and Ambulance 49 were dispatched along with units from Co10, Co41 and Howard County. RE49 and A49 arrived on the scene and found a single victim trapped in a vehicle in the brush. The victim was rapidly extricated and transported to a local trauma center. |

Trench Rescue Call in Howard

Tuesday July 12, 2011 at about 1800 the Rescue Squad 49 responded to the Trench Rescue in Howard County. Once on scene SQ49 found one trapped up to his waste in dirt. Working with Howard county trench team the crew from SQ49 assisted in removing the patient in about 45 minutes. Pt was transported to local hospital. The crew was released after one hour of work. It should be noted that this call would be the last rescue call our 1994 HME Rescue Squad will have operated. The Squad is being replaced by a new 2011 Pierce Rescue next month. |

BW Parkway

On 7/7/2011 in the late evening, RS49, A49, CH49 and CH49A responded to the MVC with multiple victims reportedly trapped on the Northbound Lanes of the BW Parkway. Finding 4 victims in a vehicle down a steep embankment, up against tress and trapped, the crew from 49 along with crews from Co10, Co31, Co35, AA27, AA29, M18 and multiple command staff rapidly extricated the 4 victims. Two helicopters and two medic units provided the ALS care and transport to a local trauma center. |

Independance Day

On July 2, 2011 the our station participated in the City of Laurel's Independance Day celebration.
Units participating in the parade were the old and new rescue squad, one ambulance, the Chief's vehicles, both boats and the water rescue. Our new rescue squad won best appearing rescue squad in the parade.
Command officers, two ambulances, a reserve engine and the rescue squad were staffed and provided emergency services while the water rescue unit provided support to the fire works floating barges during the fire works. |
