Busy Day for Co. 49

April 3, 2009, just after 1030 RS849 was returning from a crash on I95 when communications started receiving many calls in different locations on I95 for motor vehicle crashes including one trapped. RS849 came upon a vehicle that hit a tree and had one person trapped. RS849 with 5 volunteers, went to work stabilizing the vehicle then removing the driver side door and freeing the patient. Patient care was handed over to A831 and the patient was then taken to a trauma center.

After clearing this incident I95, RS849 was on the road until about 1300 running 8 calls, nonstop including a water rescue, MVA's on the BW Parkway and on Laurel Bowie Rd. , several EMS assists and overheated cars. Meanwhile, while RS49 was running calls the station had 4 more volunteer members doing boat training at Rocky George.

We would like to thank everyone who pitched in to help staff the station while the career crew was elsewhere throughout the county.
