Old Line Ave, Basement Fire

Monday, January 29, 2007.  Just after midnight LVRS was alerted to the house fire in Maryland City on Old Line Avenue.  While in route Engine 782 (AACo Company 27) arrived scene and reported heavy smoke from the entire dwelling. 782 only had a staffing of 2, so upon arrival Rescue Engine 49 joined 782 and made entry into the house to find heavy fire from the basement and up to the first floor. With no outside access to the basement, the crew went in and fought the fire down into the basement and made a quick knock on it.  Chief 49B had Operations and Chief 49 had the Basement Division.  Crews went in service in just over an hour. First Water Rescue Call of the New Year

January 1, 2007.  Members from the LVRS Water Rescue Team were called to I-95 and the Beltway under the sky ramp for a car into the creek.  After an initial investigation Command requested that the team come to the scene investigate the car to ensure were there no victims.  Crews from LVRS deployed into the swift moving water with support tenders from Beltsville, Branchville and Berwyn Heights.  Searches proved negative for any victims and appeared as if someone had dumped the car.  Chief 31 had the Command and Chief 49 had Operations.
