The Post Commander of Ft Meade Col. Kenneth O. McCreedy, as well as a Major from the Ft Meade FD stopped by today and presented LVRS and Prince George's County with The Ft George G. Meade Installation Commander Certificate for Meritorious Achievement for the stations actions on Oct 20th 2006 during the fire on Ft Meade. The citation reads as follows :
For outstanding support to the U.S. Army during a Six Alarm building fire at 4554 Llewellyn Avenue , Fort George G. Meade, Maryland on 20 October 2006. The timely and professional response by your station during the fire was instrumental in saving lives and limiting overall loss to the government. The bonds of the fire fighting fraternity are tight and strong as are the mutual aid agreements that link our communities. It is emergencies such as this where we fully understand what a superb resource this represents. Your fire fighters’ dedication to duty reflects highly upon the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad, Prince George ’s County, and the State of Maryland . The Fort Meade community and the United States Army are eternally grateful for your assistance.
Army Strong.
Given this 20 day of November 2006

LVRS Members take part in Valuable Training

|
Nov 4th 2006, LVRS members participated in a valuable Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) training. The RIC team's job on a fire is to save firefighters and nothing else. Participants went through a refresher on the RIC equipment bag, Something that is standard on every special service in the county. We hope never to use these skills, but that doesn't mean we stop training.
