Building Fire

On Sunday morning March 26, 2006 at 0330 Prince George's County Emergency Communications alerted Station 49 of a box alarm at 11298 Laurelwalk Drive. RE 49 responded with 5 crew members. Upon arrival a 3” supply line was laid and 250’ of 1 ¾ “attack line was placed in operations. Fire was contained by aggressive attack of the rescue engine crew. There was smoke damage to three units and heavy fire damage was contained to the unit bedroom and hallway area. Division Chief 5 Fusco had Command, Chief 10B Lovell had Operations, Chief 49A Arsenault had Exposures, Rescue Engine 49 Officer Bannon had Division 1. Ambulance 499 and Medic 49 responded on the Working Fire Dispatch. Units remained on the scene until 0700 hrs.

Vehicle into a Utility Pole

On Saturday March 25 at 0834 hrs Rescue Engine 49 was alerted by communications to respond to the 14600 Block of Bowie Rd for a reported vehicle into a utility pole. RE 49 arrived on the scene to find a vehicle hanging on the pole guide wires off the ground, with the engine running and the transmission in reverse. The pole was snapped at the base. After checking for victims and finding none, the area was taped off and BGE requested. The driver was gone prior to arrival.

TRAPPED!

On Saturday afternoon, March 18 2006, RE49, A499 and CH49A were dispatched, along with units from Co. 10, 31 and 41, for a Motor Vehicle Crash with entrapment. One priority one trauma victim was extricated and taken to the local trauma center.
