2 Alarm Fire in Jessup

  On January 30, 2006 Rescue Squad 49 was alerted to an explosion at an asphalt plant in Howard County.  Upon arrival units found 2 asphalt pots that had exploded.  Rescue Squad 49 assisted units on the scene for over 5 hours with the operation.  Special foam Units from Baltimore/Washington International Airport were called in to extinguish the fire.

Fatal House Fire

  On January 23, 2006 Rescue Engine 49 was alerted to a report of a house fire in the 15700 Block of Jera Place.  While en-route units were notified of the possibility of people trapped in the house.  Units arrived on scene to find heavy fire in the garage.  An aggressive attack was put on the fire, and the fire was contained to the garage.  The homeowner unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Overturned SUV

On Monday, 23 January 2006 in the early evening. Rescue Engine 49, A499 and CH49A were alerted for an overturned SUV on South bound I-95. Two patients were extricated and transported to local hospitals.

Bedroom Fire on Morris Drive

January 26, 2005.  At approximately 4AM on Thursday morning crews from LVRS were dispatched for smoke in the hallway at an apartment on Morris Drive.  While in route Communications notified the responding units that residents were reporting a bedroom on fire.  Upon arrival Rescue Engine 49 reported a working fire in a ground floor apartment.  The crew found the fire in a back bedroom and quickly extinguished the fire.  One resident was transported to a local hospital for a check up.  The cause of the fire was due to a resident falling asleep while smoking in bed.  Chief 49 had the command.

Vehicle Fire

Monday January 2nd - E491 responded to A498's report of a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the 14700 block of Baltimore Ave. The crew of A498 had noticed heavy smoke while returning from the hospital and found an SUV fully involved.
