Duplex Fire on Laurelwalk Drive |
| After clearing several calls Rescue Engine 49 and Chief 49B were alerted to a Townhouse fire on Laurelwalk Drive. Units arrived on the scene and Chief 49B established the command. Rescue Engine 49 reported fire in an electrical box with extension into the walls. Units opened the walls and was able to quickly stop the spread of the fire and isolate the electric feeding the fire. Units cleaed within 2 hours. |

House Fire on Brooklyn Bridge Road |
| Units from the Laurel area were alerted to a House Fire with a report of people trapped on Brooklyn Bridge Road in West Laurel. Chief 49B arrived on the scene first and reported a single story house with heavy fire through the roof. Chief 49B established the command. Engine 103 LVFD arrived on the scene and advanced a line to the fire and made an aggrssive knock. The Rescue Engine advanced a back up line to assist the crew from E103 Chief 10A assumed the command and Chief 49B was assigned operations. Chief 49A was assigned Safety. Units on the call worked together and rapidly extingushed the fire and began extensive overhaul. Units ceared in 2 hours. |

Super Bowl Interuptus

| February 5, 2006. Just as the second quarter of the Super Bowl started crews were alerted to respond to the report of one trapped in Anne Arundel County. Upon arrival crews found a sedan that had been T-boned by a pick up truck while trying to cross 198. Both patients were quickly packaged and transported to local area hospital. The crews still made it back in time to catch the tail end of the halftime show and the second half. |

Overturned and Ejected

February 5, 2006. Early Sunday morning crews from LVRS responded to the report of an overturned car on the Baltimore Washington Parkway. Chief 28B was in the area and arrived on the scene first to confirm the driver was ejected from the car. Crews from LVRS arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and packaged the patient. It appeared the car had struck the retaining wall which launched the car over 30 feet into the air according to witnesses . The car came to rest over 100 feet from initial impact and patient flew at least 50 feet to land in the thorn bushes down the embankment. The patient was transported to local hospital via ground transport. Chief 49 had the command.

Two Alarm Fire on Hunting Lane

| February 3, 2006. Just after noon LVRS was dispatched to report of smoke in the building on Hunting Lane. The career staff had taken the Rescue Engine to Beltsville for a staff meeting and the first run ambulance was out on a medic local. However, there were still volunteers in the building. They loaded up on the ambulance to make up staffing for the Rescue Engine which was understaffed. The ambulance was the first arriving unit and reported smoke from the third floor. Until the other units arrived on the scene the ambulance crew assisted in getting residents out of the building. When other units began to arrive on scene the grabbed SCBA and went to extinguish the fire. A second alarm was called for staffing. Crews operated for just over an hour. This was the 2nd multiple alarm fire of the week. |

Burnt ice cream anyone?

| February 2, 2006 LVRS responded to Howard County for a report of a fire in the Dreyers Ice Cream Plant. Upon arrival it was determined that the fire was in the roof area of the administrative portion of the plant. Firefighters pulled ceiling from the interior to access the fire as other crew members worked on the roof. The fire was confined to the area of the plant that was under construction. Cause of the fire was listed as accidental. Estimate of damage is listed as approximately $500,000.00. There were no injuries and crews operated for approximately 3 hours. |
