Overturned Truck on I-95 Ramp

December 30, 2005. At 1000 on Friday morning crews from LVRS responded to the report of an overturned truck. Upon arrival the first unit found a dump truck on its side with a ruptured saddle tank leaking significant amounts of fuel. Crew from Squad 49 went to work with the other engine crews on the scene to prevent any more fuel run off until the Hazmat companies arrived. The driver was transported via basic ambulance to a local hospital. Chief 49, Chief 49A and Rescue Squad 49 operated for just under an hour.

One Ejected on I-95

December 28, 2005. At approximately 1700 hours crews from LVRS responded to the report of a crash on southbound I-95. While still responding communications notified incoming units that one ejected from the car. Rescue Squad was the first arriving unit on the scene and found two patients: the driver who was ejected and a pediatric who had been removed from the car by bystanders. Two MSP medevac helicopters were called for and shut down I-95. The car struck a tree where the door actually separated from the car and wrapped completely around the tree and car came to rest over 100 feet away. Rescue Squad 49 had the command and units were on the scene for just under an hour.

Early Morning Fire in Howard County

December 26, 2005. At approximately 0700 on Monday morning the crew from LVRS was called to respond to a reported house on fire in Howard County. The all volunteer crew responded to find a house on fire. Squad 49 was assigned the RIC by the Howard County IC, Volunteer Chief from Savage, Company 6. The crews from Savage did a aggressive interior attack and quickly put the fire in check. Members from LVRS operated for just over an hour.

Small Apartment Fire on Finnsbury

December 25, 2005. Crews from LVRS were called to the report of an apartment on fire in the evening of Christmas Day. Engine 491(Rescue Engine 49 is currently out of service) arrived first on the scene and reported nothing evident. Upon entering the building the officer called for level one operations for all incoming crews for a fire in one of the apartments. The crew quickly isolated it to a closet that had ignited under suspicious conditions with children playing in the room. Chief 49 had the command and crews worked for a little under an hour.

Fireifghters, Paramedics and Haz-Mat Crews Recognized for Actions at Gasoline Tanker Fire

Congratulations to Vol. FF/EMT Jared Hurd, Vol. FF/EMT Diane Miller and Vol. FF/EMT Brandon Wright for recieving a "Secretary's Citation" from Robert L. Flanagan, Secretary of Transportation, State of Maryland for their efforts during the Gasoline Tanker Fire on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005.

City of Laurel Hoilday Parade and Party with Santa

Saturday, December 3rd - LVRS participated in the City of Laurel Holiday Prade and supplied both Santa & Mrs. Claus for the Post-parade Holiday Party.
