Photos: LPD

On Thursday the 30th of September, Rescue Engine 49, Ambulance 496 and
Medic 49 were alerted for the motor vehicle crash with possible people trapped. Ambulance 496 arrived on the scene first and found 2 patients trapped. The car with the entrapment was resting on top of another vehicle and also up against a structural pole of a garden store on the corner of Bowie Road and US. Rt. 1. Rescue Engine 49 (with 5 personnel) quickly got to work and stabilized the car with air shores and cribbing. The crew form RE 49 then made easy work of the roof and the doors providing plenty of access for the removal of both patients. Out of a total of 4 cars involved, one patient was taken to an area trauma center via Maryland State Police Helicopter, Trooper 2. Two other patients were taken to local hospitals for check up due to injuries sustained during the collision. Company 49 cleared the scene in approximately one hour.

No injuries were reported and Rescue Engine 49 retuned to service in about 2 hours.
