At 0945 on Saturday the 19th of June, Rescue Squad 49 (with 7) and C49A (Arsenault) were alerted for a building fire in Anne Arundel County. First arriving units found heavy fire showing from a detached garage and fire showing from the roof of the closely neighboring house. Due to the amount of fire showing the incident commander quickly requested that a task force alarm be struck. While responding, Rescue Squad 49 was instructed to begin searches in the building and the garage due to one
occupant who was unaccounted for. Once on the scene, Rescue Squad 49 split
its crews into two teams. One team conducted the search (which was negative), began to vent the building and secured utilities while the second crew from Squad 49 placed a second hand-line in service and extinguished the fire that had extended into the cockloft area and then made their way to the garage and put the final blows on the remaining fire. One fire fighter was transported to a local area hospital for injuries
sustained in fighting the fire. Station 49 maintained 2 additional crews during the incident, the cause is still under investigation. C49A (Arsenault) and Rescue Squad 49 cleared in about 3 hours. More photos here.

Double Rollover on the B/W Pkwy

Early Sunday morning, LVRS responded with A496 and Rescue Squad 49 to a report of a double rollover on 295 (B/W Parkway). While in route, PSC confirmed US Park Police was on the scene with people trapped. Upon arrival the crews discovered that there were two cars that had been involved and both rolled multiple times. The driver of one vehicle had climbed out on his own; the driver of the other car was still trapped inside with serious damage to the side of the car. Crews from LVRS made a quick assessment and then extricated the patient.

Thursday the 17th of June was a very busy day for firefighters in Prince Georges County. A lightning storm kicked off more than 10 working fires between 5 pm and 9 pm. Ambulance 499 was special called to the working fire dispatch to 6503 40th Ave in Hyattsville Maryland. By the time 499 arrived on the scene (running the call from quarters) the fire was out. In addition to 499 responding to Hyattsville, Dive Unit 49 with Boat 49 and C49A (Arsenault) responded to Forestville Rd and Suitland Parkway
for a car into the water with a person trapped inside. Units from 22 were in the area and did a good job extricating the patient and the units from 49 were placed in service prior to their arrival. In addition to those calls station 49 ran several crashes and maintained an additional crew back in quarters during the entire incident.
