March 4, 2018

At approximately 1730, Engine 849 was alerted to respond to the 12400 block of Eastgate Ln for the report of smoke coming from a house. Engine 849 responded as first due. While en route they where advised of multiple calls stating smoke was coming from the rear of the house. Upon arrival, Engine 849 found a 2 story single family dwelling with heavy smoke showing from the back of the home. The officer from the engine established tactical command and completed the 360 to find fire showing from the first floor at the back of the house. The crew from Engine 849 stretched a line through the front door and began to find the source of the fire. Once inside, the fire was found to be in the kitchen extending into the next room. The officer from Engine 849 was assigned as Division 1 Supervisor and worked with the crew from Tower 810 to put a quick knock on the fire. After opening up the ceiling, the crews discovered some extension to the second floor. The crew from 849 was able to knock the majority of that fire from division one. A second line was placed in service by other units and stretched to the second division to work on getting a knock on the rest of the fire. All the fire on division one and two were knocked fairly quickly. The crews then began overhaul in order to prevent rekindling. Crews from 849 and 810 spent a good amount of time on scene following overhaul working with Fire Marshals office. Great job to the crew from Engine 849 and all other crews that operated on the fire ground.
